A traffic signal had been in the process of installation by a construction crew at Lafayette. The natural gas pipeline at Lafayette had been struck by the traffic signal’s end parts under the ground. This had caused a leakage in the pipeline. The main pipeline had been damaged as there had been a crack (Gravel et al. 2018). This had led to the gas to freely come out of the pipeline and spread to the nearby houses. I think that this explosion had been caused by some kind of electrical connection or heat from a furnace from any of the nearby households at Lafayette. This is because there could never be an explosion had there not been any transmission of heat/electricity to come in contact with the leaked gas.
